Culvert Hydraulics
Culvert Hydraulics
(OP)
I have a reviewer that won't accept HydroCAD. What I'm trying to show is the effects of a change in pipe for a dam outlet. He wants a description of existing and proposed flows for all possible iterations. It's easy enough to toss the required information into a pond node and create a stage-discharge curve for the pipe. The help screen for culverts shows that HydroCAD is running checks on the 6 common types of culvert flow and using the most restrictive. Are these calculations (and formulas) available as an output file?

RE: Culvert Hydraulics
But if you're using a tailwater-sensitive routing procedure, the discharge is re-evaluated at each time step in order to allow for changes in tailwater. Because of the large number of iterations it simply isn't possible to include all this information in the reports.
However, at the bottom of the pond summary you will find a device analysis break-down. This lists the type of flow control that is occurring at the time of maximum flow for each device. For details see www.hydrocad.net/outlets.htm
