Stretching part a view...

Stretching part a view...

Stretching part a view...

(OP)
Hi,

This is maybe a long shot but here goes...

I have an item that is 1mm thick. In the past the width of the item is just exaggerated and an line drawn underneath to show this is not to scale. In 3D, everything is modelled to scale, I cannot find a way to make this item wider as we would in the past... I don't fancy using the Convert to 2D, as it will not get updated? Any ideas?

Cheers,

M

RE: Stretching part a view...

Couple of ideas...

1. Use the simplify feature to draw a larger box around your 1mm thick part, then show this item in simplified state on your draft.

2. Draw a construction surface in your part then make it show on your draft.

3. Instead of a construction surface your can draw a simple sketch inside the part and make it show on the proper view.

You can use all of the above while still being associative with the part.

I hope it helps

Patrick

RE: Stretching part a view...

To add to Patricks ideas, could you just offset the lines in the 2D view. They can be associative if you have Maintain Relationships set on.
Otherwise, I would just live with it and show enlarged views if necessary.

RE: Stretching part a view...

I do an enlarged detail view of one end of the part or similar to detail it's width or whatever, but I may be missing the point.

Hi,

Most of the time a detail view would be the best way. This particular drawing is of a 1mm thick gasket... and historically we don't draw a detail view for such an item, just stretch it. I guess I'll have to go forward with plan that we will have to change how we draw the items(!) :)

Cheers,

M
