Self-Weight
Self-Weight
(OP)
Hello there.
How does Abaqus handle "self weight" in model parts? (I mean gravitational weight due to gravitational mass)
1) is it automatically calculated once you give the density in the mat. properties as a distributed load on the vertical axis ? or should I specify a dload which corresponds to the weight of the model/mechanical parts?
2) are there differences implementing self-weight between STATIC and DYNAMIC analysis?
Many Thanks! Alex

RE: Self-Weight
2) Not sure what you mean by differences, but there will be an influence in dynamic analyses by including gravity.

RE: Self-Weight
2) I was meaning, if maybe only dynamic analysis requires dload. But from your answer I understand that in both cases, dynamic and static I have to specify self weight with dload.
