What works best for horizontial pouring and ingating of impellors- thin sectioned?

1,Running an impellor from the centre boss
2,Running an impellor from outside edge on bottom shroud
3,Running an impellor from both bottom and top shroud edges
4,Running an impellor from internal inner flange on bottom of shroud assuming central boss is cast upmost surface?

The third choice is the best. Multiple finger ingates connecting both the top and bottom halves will ensure a fast fill . Can you please tell the core material? Is it a ceramic shell core or no bake resin core?

Our bottom shrouds were thick enough that we could gate there only.  If you feed both be careful that you don't cold shut in the vanes.

Core material is a coarse grained furane sand cores.

-when pouring from top, it  offers high yield, but gives problems with cold shunts, and airlocks as common problems.
hence starting thread.

-pouring around outside seems to increase core gassing/breakage problems[primary-gas relief comes from centre]. some cold fold/shunt improvement and requires more expesive patternwork cannot tell at this stage if ingating bottom only, or both top and bottom, is better... some of the observed flow patterns look odd.  

If you pour from outside do you use a full circle, or a semi circle ? and do you allow provision for equal flow ingates by reducing the runner bar?

[p.s. does arunmrao mean you run a arun spectrometer?]

The purpose of my asking core binder was with respect to core gas release. If the core and mold are not properly vented, you could fill the mold by any gating,but the core gas will cause a boil. It is very important to release all the gases generated from the mold and core at a faster speed than the mold filling.
If you could use ceramic cores,the binder being inorganic,there will be lesser evolution of gas .

Now if you have an impeller casting with weight of 15 kilos or more,you could use 2 pouring stations and 2 semi circular gating systems,else for weights less than this, 1 pouring station with semi circular runner shall be adeqate.
