Blow down Ring of a Safety Valve

(OP)
Please explain the function and application of a blowdown ring

RE: Blow down Ring of a Safety Valve

Do a search for Anderson Greenwood, they have lots of on-line information on safety valves, Farris would be another good site to look at.

RE: Blow down Ring of a Safety Valve

(OP)
blowdown rings accomplish two basic purposes;

1. along with the disc holder they form a "huddling " chamber that will provides the "pop" action necessary for the safety valves.

2. adjustment of the blowdown ring(s) varies the diffence between the set pressure and reseating pressure of the valve.

RE: Blow down Ring of a Safety Valve

If you have problems with the max 3% dP on the PSV header then the blowdown ring could be your solution.

The manuf. should always confirm that its OK and of course so should good engineering judgement.

Best Regards

Morten
