I am looking for some information on large diameter cryogenic ESDV valves.
1) what is the maximum available size for ball ESDVs
2) as an alternate are we allowed to use butterfly valves for cryogenic ESD services

I have not done LNG.  I have seen lugged high performance butterfly valves used for process shutdown on equipment applications to about -150 F in gas processing and perhaps to -150 degree C on an olefins unit demethanizer.

Linde Mapag offer a butterfly-based ESD.  Since Linde specializes in Cryo, that's what their valve division makes.
