Saving components in the same folder

Saving components in the same folder

(OP)
I have an assembly, In which their components are assembled from different different folders. Is there any way to save/move the all the components into a same folder where top assembly file saved by single operation.

( Example: In catia V5, Using save management, propogate directory)

Thanks for your replies. smile

RE: Saving components in the same folder

Rafi,

You can also look into cloning Assemblies>Cloning>Create Clone Assembly. By intention the dialog forces you to change the output filenames slightly, for example by appending a prefix or suffix. It may be the case that you need to do this anyway or that it is just a good idea to help you better manage your data.

Why it doesn't also contain the ability to simply clone the assembly with no name change in another directory I don't know. It would probably be a good enhancement if it hasn't already been introduced. I should mention that I haven't verified what NX-5 does at the time of posting.

In the meantime many people have been using UGZIPC to get around this limitation, as SIWY suggests. Note however that it does require a UG Open executable license which most will have but some may not.

Best Regards

Hudson

Hai hudson

Thanks for the help...

Cloning assembly is a good idea...

RE: Saving components in the same folder

Dave,

That's what UGZIPC does in fact.

On the downside I think neither works out of Teamcentre, but you'd just export the assembly to native then zip it anyway.

Dave,

I thought it is freeware, or shareware on a voluntary basis.
