Reflective Foil - Hight Temp

Reflective Foil - Hight Temp

Reflective Foil - Hight Temp

(OP)
Does anyone know if there is a thin foil on the market (similar to aluminum foil except obviously not made from aluminum) that is highly reflective that could help block heat transfer by radiation, but that can also withstand the heat of an aluminum casting process (1000+ degrees F)

I haven't had any good results yet from searching the web.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Reflective Foil - Hight Temp

Sure, 309 stainless foil is readily available and can withstand 1000 °F.

Cory

RE: Reflective Foil - Hight Temp

You can get the above mentioned 309 SS in a form of material called Tool Wrap. Also there is 321 SS which is normally slightly cheaper. Use the temperature limits as posted by CoryPad to keep the shine.

A word of caution:

This metal will cut you faster than razor blade.
When handling metal of this thickness make sure you have on cut protection gear, like cut resistant gloves and gauntlets.
