Calculation of minimum bend radius for steel tube umbilical

Calculation of minimum bend radius for steel tube umbilical

(OP)
Can anyone advise on criteria and calculation method(s)for minimum bend radius for a steel tube umbilical?  Have checked API 17E but all it states is that 'minimum bend radius ....shall be as stated in the manufacturers written specification'.
Thanks

RE: Calculation of minimum bend radius for steel tube umbilical

norton,
This topic is vast and has more to it than a simple formula. It is subject of extensive international studies and some are even contradicting each other. My uni dissertation(long ago)was developed around this topic, 450 pages only scratching the surface of it.
I can only suggest to google the "tube bending radius" and select what's suited for your application. In the process you'll learn a lot...
cheers,

Hi norton920

Why can't you contact the supplier/ manufacturer to find the information.

Different suppliers quote different MBR so would like to understand better the factors that influence calculated value.
