How to apply teflon on rubber

How to apply teflon on rubber

Hi,

Does anyone know the detailed steps on how to apply teflon coating on a rubber diaphragm?

Thanks in advance
Goma

RE: How to apply teflon on rubber

I don't know about coatings, but I do know there are Teflon/PTFE powders that you can add to the rubber compound. Algoflon L206, from Solvay Solexis, is a micronized PTFE that I've seen used in rubber (millable urethane [Millathane®]) compounds to reduce friction.

Any reason you cannot use a flouroelastomer?

RE: How to apply teflon on rubber

I'd think that that the PTFE could be used in just about any elastomer, but I don't have any specific knowledge of that. I know that there used to be a rubber/Teflon dispersion that was promoted years ago as an additive for many polymers to reduce die drag during extrusion, so I think Teflon/PTFE would be useful in many polymers.

Darumagota,   instead of applying the ptfe to the rubber you must do it the other way round and apply the rubber to the ptfe.   First of all the plastic is acid etched on the required surface then the rubber can be vulcanised to it with a good bond.   Cheers  CM

RE: How to apply teflon on rubber

You could consider a plasma process either as a deposition or to improve the bonding between ptfe and rubber.

Have you heard about etched PTFE. They used this PTFE to bond to rubber using Chemclock 779

Hi nguyenhonganh,

May I know where I can buy Chemlok 779 and also the etched PTFE.

Thanks

look into parylene coated rubber.
