HP Compaq Desk Top Dream Machine

(OP)
Going to setup a new workstation from scratch with AutoCAD 2009 on an HP Compaq desk top (dream machine). Any recommendations on the HP Compaq desk top would be appreciated. I’m in NZ so what we get here at times are slightly different specs to else where, but any recommendations would be great.

RE: HP Compaq Desk Top Dream Machine

My HP Compaq dream machine would come with an IBM (or is that Lenovo now?) badge.

RE: HP Compaq Desk Top Dream Machine

I went on the NZ HP Compaq website & found this machine:
HP Compaq dc 7800

Choose Intel Core Duo Processor E6850 or better depending on your budget.  Choose 1066 front side ebus  4 GB of the fastest ram - important since the graphics card on this machine shares the system memory - this is how the video card can claim 512mb. nVidia Quadro FX 1700 is a good mid range graphis card if you can get it in NZ
Dual hard drives in raid configuration also helps.

RE: HP Compaq Desk Top Dream Machine

The HP xw (workstation) class computers give generally better performance in CAD applications. Look at these.
