Underground detention

(OP)
My company is looking into buying new stormwater software.  We have Intellisolve v6 which I'm told by my coworker limits customization too much for our purposes.  We were unable to get v8 because Autodesk bought Intellisolve.  We do parking lots and transportation facility design ~1 acre or less.    We incorporate underground detention basins a lot.  There are so many options we are having a hard time getting grasp on their different functions.
What are your recommendations for these needs?   Also, we would also like to get software that makes grading easier- so either Inroads for AutoCAD or Civil 3D.  I assume if we went with Inroads we would need separate stormwater software while with Civil 3D Hydraflow can be installed as an extension (how much better is this extension compared to v6).... suggestions?

RE: Underground detention

Although I have an obvious self-interest, I have to tell you that HydroCAD is the only H&H program that has built-in support for wide range of prefabricated storage chambers.  This includes most of the injection-molded products, plus concrete chambers, round and pipe-arch CMP, and others.

The HydroCAD chamber library incorporates the profiles for each chamber, so it can calculate the inside storage, plus the exact storage contribution from the voids in the surrounding stone.  With other programs, you have to do the storage calculation in a separate spreadsheet, and then import the resulting stage-storage curve into the software.  With HydroCAD you just define the outer stone-filled envelope, pick the desired chamber(s), and select the "embed" option.

For details please see www.hydrocad.net/chambers.htm
