Energy cost comparison between pneumatic or electric for diaphram style pumps?

Any backup data?

RE: "pneumatic or electric" diaphragm sump pump Best Efficiency

With pneumatic, you have to spend energy to compress the air, then use the air to drive the pump.  You get what, about 5 cfm per hp with a typical air compressor (if I recall).

If you're only looking at energy efficiency, I think that electric wins hands down, but there are reasons for pneumatic pumps.

Would it be wise to get an eletric driven diaghram pump?

Why not?
