NEW PROCESS TO PEEL COIL TO BAR with eddy current

NEW PROCESS TO PEEL COIL TO BAR with eddy current

NEW PROCESS TO PEEL COIL TO BAR with eddy current

(OP)
It is not exactly a new process because it came from Europe but it is fairly new in the USA.

Summarizing this process allows a 5 to 7% yield reduction and guaranty by eddy current the absence of defects.

The innovation of the system is that it incorporates a detection system before the peeling process (conventional peeling lines could not have one) that allows you to adjust the peeling depth depending on the crack depth you are wanting to detect, automatically moving  apart the bars  with a crack deeper of the set up one.

To do the eddy current the material is first cleaned using a drawing die, leaving a smooth surface apt for the detection.

In the conventional lines to assure the absence of defects they have to increase the peeling depth and it could go from 0.9 mm up to 1.2 mm or more, but instead of this peeling depth they do not have a system to reject an eventual crack deeper of what they are peeling (New process constant peeing of 0.5 to 0.6 mm) .
This process is especially adequate for springs and shock absorbers.

Apart of the yield savings, and security of the product (avoiding possible claims) there are others:

1.- Productivity increase because of the less peeling depth

2.- High roundness, specially indicated in the shock absorbers allowing to eliminate high costly grinding passes

3.- Specially indicated to eliminate magnaflux controls on the spring control

4.- Allows to use cheaper steel mill products using billet instead of bloom

This process allows also to include an ultrasonic control in line.

The differences between the high quality raw materials for only cold drawn and the ones that you could use with this process is bigger than the differences in the cost between the two process, the peeling one and the cold drawn one.

Do not hesitate to contact for further details. Thank you
