Volume of a deflected diaphragm

Volume of a deflected diaphragm

Volume of a deflected diaphragm

(OP)
I’m trying to model a diaphragm pump that has a convolution along the supporting edge (see images attached).  Using the model I would like to determine the volume displaced by the deflected diaphragm for different levels of deflection and loads applied at the center. Using Cosmos I’ve been able to get the deflections of the diaphragm at certain points, but I need to get a very accurate assessment of the volume displaced since this diaphragm will be used to move a very precise (20 to 80 micro Liters) measure of fluid. Does anyone know of a good way to do determine the displaced volume from the deflected model?

RE: Volume of a deflected diaphragm

Hi,

Did you try to add a part thats bonded to (and shaped as)the "inner" side of the diaphragm and has very low strength properties?
So when the diaphragm deforms, the soft part follows next with altering its volume.
