Tygon Material

Tygon Material

Tygon Material

(OP)
Hello,
I am looking for material properties of Tygon, especially thermal conductivity. Has anybody a place they can point me to, the internet doesn't seem to offer too much. Or else can anybody tell me if it is suitable for usage in a heat exchanger.
Thank You
Domenic

RE: Tygon Material

Tygon is a brand name which applies to multiple materials, and their formulations are apparently secret.  The website doesn't say so, but the stuff you're probably considering is just plasticized PVC.  You'll need LOTS of it to accomplish significant heat transfer.  You can find the thermal conductivity of rigid unplasticized PVC easily enough.  I'd suspect the plasticized stuff would be no better.
