Is Licorice xerophyt
Is Licorice xerophyt
(OP)
Perennial C3 herb, Glycyrrhiza inflata Batalin, is grown near the oasis of arid desert in northwest China. The roots of the plant are huge and a type of medicinal herb most in use. Someone argued it is not a xerophyte but a mesophyte. But I am studying its drought resistance mechanism and suppose its secondary metabolites, active constituents of drug have effect on drought tolerance. I do not know if it is correct, please help.
