Water supply design drawing detail textbook or resource

(OP)
Most books out there seem to be about water supply network modeling, water treatment, etc. I need drawings, sketches and specificiations which show how water supply distribution systems, 12" and smaller, should be constructed. For example, ductile iron pipe bedding requirements, individual service connection details, when are saddles required and for what type of pipes?, when do I need to support gate valves. Looking for the details of everything required after the last pump house. This book should be called "Standard Drawings and Installation Specifications for Municipal Water Main Extensions Less than 12" in Diameter".  Does a reference like this exist?  Thank You.

Any water supplier in your area should have details and design guides for this sort of thing. Try calling or visiting them.

good luck

there is no "standard", but each agency will have their own standards, appropriate to that agency. AWWA does publish some standards that may be useful to you. DIPRA also has some good publications.  Having worked for many cities and water districts over the years, I would recommend that you follow defacto standards established by whatever agency you are working for.  Some may be very lenient and allow you to specify a standard.  However, others will not and you will be better off starting on the right foot with these agencies by using their existing standards.

Each state typically has a Standard Specification for Water and Sewer Construction. Some of these are published by ASPE.

While you might not happen to be in AZ, there is a set of standards commonly used there called MAG standards. You can download the standards and lots of drawing details from the web.

Here' the Maricopa Assn of Govts' web site:
http://www.mag.maricopa.gov/display.cms
Look in the "Top Downloads" section.

These standards are quite useful and you could say, de facto in many ways. Maybe you can find what you're looking for in them.

Try the Water Supply Association of Australia website. Download their codes WSA 02 & WSA 03 for sewage and water reticulation. These contain many standard drawings.https://www.wsaa.asn.au/frameset2.html
