(OP)
Please help me.  I am in need of an expert residential underpinning firm to deepen the basement of my small, 150 yr-old home in Center City Philadelphia.  Know of anything that fits the bill?  Very much appreciated.

RE: To PEinc, PSlem and other underpinning experts

I don't get too far from Atlanta.  I usually discourage this due to cost, recommending instead an outside addition or a retaining wall inside the basement beyond a 1:1 influence line from the foundation.  To do what you want, you will need to do pit underpinning in alternate 3' sections and if this is a rubble wall you may need to pour a slab under the wall prior to digging the pit to ensure the wall doesn't come apart.  After pits are filled to within 3" of the footing drypack must be rammed into the gap to transfer the load.  It's a slow, expensive option.

PEinc is in Southeast Pennsylvania.
Google "Peirce Engineering, Inc."

Keystone999,

I am in the Philadelphia suburbs.  Call me @ Six Ten- Nine Three Three - Eight Three Five Three.  I'm in Phoenixville, PA just outside King of Prussia.

P.S.  My Comcast web site seems to be acting weird, with much missing information.  My new web site is not yet operational.

Isn't there some rule against getting names and such on these sites?
