VALUES for JM Clipper Dynagraph gasket
(OP)
Dear all,
I have to design a gasketed joint of a shell & tube heat exchanger using a Dynagraph Gasket.
Could someone let me know this gasket values ( m & y ) to consider in calculating my flanges ?
Thanks and regards

RE: VALUES for JM Clipper Dynagraph gasket
The ASME VIII Div 1, Appx.2 is listing m=3.5 and Y=45 MPa for the corrugated SS gaskets. However, similar gasket suplied by Klinger is rated 2 and 17.2 by the manufacturer.
I suggest to get in the habit of requesting the gasket suppliers to provide you with guaranteed values of m and Y for any gasket you purchase, unless you are happy to use those ancient figures provided by the old cookbook (ASME). Sometimes, you have to reming them that there are other gasket suppliers, if they turn recalcitrant and refuse to provide decent guaranteed values, usually much lower than the ASME code listed values.

http://leadergt.com/index.php. Suggest you contact them.
Ref gr2vessels' response, while it is true that the (any)manufacturer m & Y will be lower as compared to the stainless core only, the corrugated metal, it can be useful to use the m & Y for the CORE ONLY, to provide an adequate margin of bolt area to compensate for the unknowns.

Mike
RE: VALUES for JM Clipper Dynagraph gasket
as per your suggestion, I contacted Leader Global Technologies and immediately I got from them the requested values for Dynagraph gasket with stainless steel core.
For your and everybody info the values are:
Y= 5000 psi
m= 3
They said also that, the values suggested by ASME VII Div.1 Appendix 2 for the corrugated gaskets are as well suitable.
thanks again for your precious help.
