Corrosion protection of swimming pool area

We are currently designing a buildling with a swimming pool in one area. Currently, the area over the pool is precast concrete slabs. In this type of environment, are there any special requirements for the coating of the concrete or rebar/prestressing steel for corrosion protection, or will standard concrete cover be enough? I cant seem to locate any information. Also, what if we had steel beams in this area. Is hot-dip galvanizing enough?

1) Precast works very well. Typically all exposed steel/connections should be protected. I would assume this would apply to the ends of prestressing strands. The precaster tried to sell the client on stainless steel connections, but in the end they used galvanized.
2) I have always tried to direct clients away from steel because of the corrosion issues. In one project where they wanted steel I used bolted connections with everything hot-dipped galvanized. The structure was not constructed due to financing, but I had determined ahead of time I would make repeated trips during the years following service to see how the steel help up in that environment.

We have used hot dip galvanising with a paint coat over. Be careful as only certain paint work over galvanizing so check with the manufacturer. Ensure that there are no upturned lips e.t.c. where salts can collect.

Be careful with use of stainless in environments which are chlorine rich - see the following from the Health and Safety Executive.
