SUPPORT RELEASES

(OP)
I HAVE A PLATE UNDER BENDING SUPPORTED WITH ONE ACHOR BOLT. I LIKE TO SIMULATE THE -Y CONCRETE SUPPORT UNDER THE PLATE BY RELEASING EVERYTHING (+/- X, Z, MX, MY, MZ & +Y)EXCEPT THE -Y REACTION. THEREFORE, THE RESULTING COUPLE WILL BE RESISTED BY ONE EDGE OF THE PLATE (-Y)AND THE BOLT (+Y).

CAN THIS BE DONE AND HOW?

THANKS

RE: SUPPORT RELEASES

Sigma1,
I remember when I first attended a finite element course the instructor told us to always look at the boundary conditions and not to over constrain these. Since then I have used FIXED BUT FX FZ MX MY MZ KFY soil spring value to model most simple supports. When I have skewed rigid frame bridges I need to modify this with KFZ soil spring value instead of FZ.
