Oil and fuel filter micron ratings?

Oil and fuel filter micron ratings?

Oil and fuel filter micron ratings?

(OP)
Seems to me that the standard for aftermarket fuel filters is 10 microns, most oil filters are about 20, with the better oens also being 10 like the fuel filters.

Am i totally off on this?

Is there anything inherently different between the filter material used in the two different types other than filtering size?

Thanks guys!!!

RE: Oil and fuel filter micron ratings?

There is a bunch of posts on oil filter related questions in the Auto lubricant engineering section. Basically most oil filters are not in the 10 micron range although they can be had, albeit at a considerably higher cost. Closer to 40 is the norm. No point in going over it all again here, check  out the  other threads.
