V5 downward compatibility

V5 downward compatibility

V5 downward compatibility

(OP)
I have been getting up-to-speed on V5R18 and have been experimenting with the Downward Compatibility feature, specifically the creation of R14 files from within R18.

It seem that when I successfully create a R14 file it has the tree stripped off thus a total loss of parametric features. It also seems that the newly created R14 file is unreadable by V5R14 and thus useless. For now, at least, it seems if I want version interchangeability I would be better off to simply export files as STEP.

Anyone else have experience with the CATIA Downward Compatibility feature.

RE: V5 downward compatibility

It has worked this way since we first got it way back at R7.
