Looking for Free Load Cell Software

Looking for Free Load Cell Software

Looking for Free Load Cell Software

(OP)
I have an older model loadcell (Transducer Technologies LPU-20K capacity).  I am looking for some free software to interface my laptop with the loadcell.  Basic stress/strain/force type of stuff.  Any thoughts?

RE: Looking for Free Load Cell Software

I think you will need some hardware to provide power to the cell and read the signal coming out.

RE: Looking for Free Load Cell Software

You can not interface the computer directly to the load cell. The load cell needs a very stable voltage source and an accurate volt meter. You are effectively trying to measure micro-ohm changes in resistance.

There are many many different data logging and data acquisition systems available. I checked Omega.com and the cheapest set-up was $140 and used the RS485 port. I also found this USB interface for $55 but I'm not sure how to work the software side. http://www.lbodnar.dsl.pipex.com/USB-load-cell/
