Mild Reinforced Slab

Mild Reinforced Slab

Mild Reinforced Slab

(OP)
Can someone explain to me what a Mild Reinforced Slab is?  As apposed to just a Reinforced Slab.  Why add "mild"?  Where can I find the definition?  ACI?  Could not find the word mild in ACI 318-05.

RE: Mild Reinforced Slab

In the UK it would refer to the use of mild steel instead of High Tensile steel reinforcement.

RE: Mild Reinforced Slab

In the US "mild" refers to basic bar reinforced concrete as opposed to prestressing strands.

RE: Mild Reinforced Slab

(OP)
So in the UK, mild refers to 40 ksi steel and high strength is 60 ksi steel or the SI equivalent.

In the US, mild is 60 ksi.  Where is this documented?

RE: Mild Reinforced Slab

No documentation - just the cultural lingo used here in the US.

RE: Mild Reinforced Slab

We use the term mild reinforcing to refer to deformed reinforcing bars in post-tensioned slabs.
