Hi All:

I’m using WaterCAD to model a high-service pumping upgrade at our WTP. There is an infrequent high head condition that forces us to install pumps to meet that condition (e.g., pumping across town to fill an elevated tank that gets taken out of service each winter). Problem is, that during normal operations, or low head / high demand / low elevated tank levels, the pumps will operate to the right of the pump curves and deliver flow that would outpace the WTP production rate, and rapidly empty the WTP clearwell (high service suction tank).

I want to model the HS pumps (in parallel) as variable speed pumps. If possible, I would like to use logical controls to reduce the pump speeds if discharge is in excess of a set pumping rate.

Does anyone know how to set this up? The WaterCAD literature is very confusing regarding VSP modeling.
