PWHT for a exchanger
PWHT for a exchanger
(OP)
Materials of Construction for a exchanger (shell side) is 1.25Cr-0.5Mo + clad 321/347 Stainless Steel (3mm), which is served in H2S and H2 condition.
Normally, we need PWHT for the base materials (1.25Cr-0.5Mo). However, PWHT is usually not required for Stainless Steel. How can the manufacturer do to satify the PWHT requirement? Can we do PWHT for the whole exchanger?
Or can we use 1.25Cr-0.5Mo + 321/347 Stainless Steel overlay and PWHT?

Please revirew thread http://eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=195327 which deals with a similar case of PWHT odf a cladded vessel.
Hope this helps.

RE: PWHT for a exchanger
You PWHT the entire cladded shell. Nothing wrong with that. Its done all the time. But if you have to ask this question, then I say you don't the experience to do this job by yourself. You need the supervision of an experienced material and vessel engineer. It gets more complicated if you have w.o. instead of clad.
