Entity type

(OP)
Hi everybody, we just made the switch from Think3 to SW2008.
I started 10 years ago with Unigraphics up to NX4 but now changed job.
What is the easiest way to find out the type of an entity, like line, arc, spline or... Something like object information.

Furthermore, is it possible to create an intersection between curve/line and face/surface result should be a point?

Thanks in advance, Bert

RE: Entity type

When in a sketch, just clicking on the entity will open a dialogue box. Activating the Measure tool and selecting an entity will also give some information.

Just curious, what information are you looking for and why are you needing it.

cheers

RE: Entity type

You can create datum points and also points in 3D sketches at the intersections you mention.

The reason why, for taking decision on how to handle, tangent if circle, extend if line and ... Also for CAM reasons [mill & WEDM]

For the point, gives an error for me. We are limited to SW2008 SP1.1 due to our CAM plug-in.

Thanks, Bert

RE: Entity type

Just hovering the cursor over the entity will indicate its type.

Tangent will only be available if one of the entities is an arc.

Extend isn't limited to lines. It will also work on arcs and splines.

cheers
