Created a new part. There is file name, file type & description. I did not add a description when I first created the part but now want to add one. How can I do that?

SW2007 SP2.2

Thanks

RE: Part Description

File>Properties>Custom Tab

Add properties that you would like to add...

RE: Part Description

You can also do a 'Save As' and, leaving the part name the same, add the description in the description box at the bottom of the window.

The "save as" option is what I was looking for. I wanted to update the description of the part so it would show in my bom.

Thanks to all for the answers.

RE: Part Description

You can do it both ways...save as and input the description properties or as I first described it.  Both will put the description into the BOM.

Scru,

Yes, you can do it both ways. I tried it your way first but didn't understand that I could just type in the description. I thought I had to pick one of the pull down options only. I just went into the part after I did the 'save as' & saw how it added the description. So now I understand how it all works.

Thanks

RE: Part Description

If "DESCRIPTION" is not on your properties list, then add it to the "Properties.txt" file found in the SW install location.

By default it may be here:
C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english

RE: Part Description

go to SW Explorer and add Diescription there.
