Duplicate Datum Creation Warning

Duplicate Datum Creation Warning

Duplicate Datum Creation Warning

(OP)
In NX4 I am not getting the warning when I create a duplicate datum. For example, if I create a datum by selecting a face and give offset of 10" and again try to create similar datum (offset of 10" from same face), I used to get warning in NX2 which was very useful. Why I am not getting it in NX4? or am I missing some setting?

John,
Do you have any idea why this warning message is removed in later versions?

RE: Duplicate Datum Creation Warning

I really don't know why it was changed, however I can speculate that perhaps we were asked to change it since I know some people felt it was a meaningless message and interfered with a user's work-flow.  Besides, starting in NX 4 we changed the appearance and the fact that now datums can be resized and so I'm sure that there were some who now felt that it was less likely to be an issue since it will now be easier to notice one datum on top of another (but of course that only works if you actually change the size of one of them, but at least now you can), as shown in the image referenced below:
