Standard Drawing Views
Standard Drawing Views
(OP)
Are there any drawing standards that dictate the aircraft orientation in drawing views("top", "front" "left" views)? As for me, a "top View" would always be looking down at the top of the aircraft, with forward to the left. A "Front View" would be looking at the left side of the aircraft. A "Left View" would be a looking aft from the front of the plane. A "Right View" would be looking forward from the aft of the plane.

RE: Standard Drawing Views
It's partially addressed in ASME Y14.3-2003 but not specifically for aircraft.
Somone over in forum1103: Drafting Standards, GD&T & Tolerance Analysis may know for sure or you could ask on one of the aeros forum forum16: Aeronautic engineering other topics forum31: Aerospace engineering other topics.
If a contract requirement it should be stated somehow, either in the contract or a standard referenced there in.
