How to find the length of a long pipe ?

How to find the length of a long pipe ?

How to find the length of a long pipe ?

(OP)
Dear Folks;

In my autocad days I would use the pedit command to create a polyline using the centerline of a long pipe or a duct run and then list the properties of that polyline to find its total length.

Whats the best way to do this with SWX office pro 2007 without having to buy the routing package ?

So far the only method I can think of is to use equations for the dimensions in the sketches and add them all up in the equation editor.

But hey, I acknowledge I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed. Any of you experts know a much better way ?

RE: How to find the length of a long pipe ?

How did you draw the pipe. I normally extrude the pipe shape along a line as a sweep. If you have done this then use the measure tool edit the sweep sketch and click on all the segments to get the total length

RE: How to find the length of a long pipe ?

Even quicker than selecting each segment of the sketch is to select one of the segments, right click, and select either Select Tangency or Select Chain.  It will select all the connected or tangent segments instantly.
