Hey, does anybody know how to define dead loads in a riks step? I\ve tried to use two steps, general static, where I input my dead loads, and then static riks, where I input the referance load. The analysis can't complete becouse of an error, "To many increments needed to complete the step".

Which step fails with the "Too many increments..." error?  Either way, try reducing the minimum allowable step size in the *STATIC card.

It is the static general step that fails. I'll try to do what you said. Thanks.

It didn't help reducing the minimum allowable step size. Any other suggestions what could be causing the error?

What minimum time step size are you using?

Is there any contact in the model?

I have used 0, wich gives a default value of 10^-5, but I tried to reduce to 10^-7, and it didn't help. There is no contact in the model.

I'd try 10e-9 aswell.  If that doesn't work, then there must be something fundamentally wrong with the model.  Check your boundary conditions to make sure that the model is fully constrained and there are no rigid body motions.

If you're still struggling, try and post the .inp file.

Thanks a lot, I'll try that and if it doesn't work I'll attach the input file. I know the model is ok becouse I've run analysis with this model, but without dead loads.
