Confused Vocabularies
Confused Vocabularies
(OP)
I am not an American person. There are some vocabularies confuse me all the time when making a plan or report.
Is anybody can tell me what the difference among the words list below is?
If an example of the usage can be provided, it will be appreciated.
To reach the
Vision
Goal
Target
Purpose
Destination
End
Aim
Objective
Thank you for your help.

RE: Confused Vocabularies
If you are the one making the plan or report use whichever is clearest to you.
KENAT, probably the least qualified checker you'll ever meet...
RE: Confused Vocabularies
Vision would be a bit more hopeful and possibly abstract. "We have a vision of a new mall at this location."
Goal is a bit more concrete. It would describe something you hope to accomplish. "My goal is to write better reports."
Target is similar to goal in this instince, but may be more focused. More of a priority. "Our target is to put out 10% more reports this quarter."
Purpose would describe an end to be obtained. "The purpose of this report is to explain why you need to use a foundation for this building on this site, instead of standard spread footings."
Destination is where you hope to go. Could be a physical place, "Your destination is New York City." Or could describe a purpose (predestined), "You are destined to become a great engineer."
End could mean the results you are looking for, or have acheived. "The end product of this investigation should be a 50% improvement on the current model." "This meeting has come to an end." "We end this report with the following..."
Aim, is again something you are hoping to acheive or accomplish. Probably more concrete and purposeful in intent. "We aim to finish this project by Christmas."
Objective might relate to an actual object, but still indicates something you are hoping to accomplish. "Our objective is to finish this car by Christmas."
"Our vision is to complete this project by New Years Eve."
"Our goal is to finish this project by Saint Patricks Day."
"Our target date is April 15th."
"Our purpose is to build this mall."
"Our destination is own this mall."
"The mall project has come to an end." "The mall project is about to come to an end."
RE: Confused Vocabularies
= so we can get a drink to celebrate
"Our goal is to finish this project by Saint Patricks Day."
= so we can get a drink to celebrate
"Our target date is April 15th."
= because it's my birthday and we can get a drink to celebrate
"Our purpose is to build this mall."
= which will have a range of bars, so we can get several drinks to celebrate
"Our destination is own this mall."
= and as shareholders, we can have a drink to celebrate
"The mall project has come to an end."
= so now we can admire the view, then have a drink to celebrate
"The mall project is about to come to an end." and I've had too much to drink

RE: Confused Vocabularies
If your vision is blurry you cannot take aim to hit any target and in the end your objective of scoring a goal results in the ball reaching the wrong destination and the purpose is lost!!!

"The objective purpose of our goal is to target our end aim vision."
Seems obvious to me.
