Does a GIS need to be ASME Code Stamped?

Does a GIS need to be ASME Code Stamped?

Does a GIS need to be ASME Code Stamped?

(OP)
Does anyone have supporting documents to show the following GIS does not require an ASME code stamp.

Voltage - 300kV
Gas - SF6
Pressure - 1.9BAR (27.5psi)
Tank matl. - mild steel
Approx. size - 4.5'dia. x 8'long
Internal components - electrical

I have been told that GIS units do not require ASME code - typically this certification is requested by the state/city.  Any insight on this as well would be appreciated.

Thanks,
vagator

It may vary State by State.  In Washington, one of the excemptions from the boiler code is:

    (11) Electrical switchgear and control apparatus that have no external source of energy to maintain pressure and are located in restricted access areas under the control of an electric utility;
