Pilot operated relief valves for LPG

Pilot operated relief valves for LPG

Pilot operated relief valves for LPG

(OP)
NFPA 58 allows pilot operated relief valves for vessels with LPG, under certain circunstances, if the pilot is "self-actuated, direct, spring-loaded pilot valve".

I could not find a reference to what the word "direct" means in this context.  Does anybody know what is the correct interpretation of "direct"?

My particular doubt is if this precludes the use of pilot with remote sensors.  Any idea?
