I&C Technician/engineer Prior Military experience

I&C Technician/engineer Prior Military experience

(OP)
I was wandering if anyone out there was an I&C Tech/Engineer and if they could give me a couple career pointers.

I will be getting out of the USAF in May2009.  I will have finished my BSEET and have had 6 yrs experience in Calibration and Troubleshooting/Repair of electronic equipment.  Does my work experience go hand in hand for a I&C tech?  Also, if I wanted to be an I&C engineer, what would I have to do to make that happen?

Thanks,

Rus

RE: I&C Technician/engineer Prior Military experience

Go to www.isa.org and look into the CCST program.  You may have enough experience to qualify to take the level 1 exam, and I have heard of some military guys in Hawaii that their commands paid for the review class and taking the test.

They also have programs for Control System Engineers, cruise the website, and if you are interested, join ISA if you are going to make instrumentation your career.

Hope that helps.

You might try www.netaworld.org and pick o few of their member companies and make some phone calls.  They're in the business of commissioning, testing and repair of industrial power systems.  It's a pretty good specialty and you might find that it matches what you have in mind.
