How can i calculate the plasticity index with a given cpt test data??

RE: CPT Data

To the best of my knowledge you can not determine the PI index from CPT data.  That is why I usually do a sampling auger hole near to my CPT tests.

RE: CPT Data

I agree - I've not seen any "easy" correlation.  I think that you can develop your own correlations so you can use them in the future based on the soils you are testing.  See the paper referenced below. (why it is given in a "medical journal" beats the sheisse out of me!

RE: CPT Data

BigH: your collection of links to helpful e-literature is unbeliveable!
I tried (and I still try) also to derive correlations between cpt-data and soil mechanics parameters, but in my expirience the reliability of the subsequent derived parameters is generally not sufficient. Some of the well proven standard correlations (Phi, Es, cu) are usefull combined with expirience based engineering judgement.
By the way, if I remember correctly "sheisse" is written "Scheiße" in German

RE: CPT Data

Thanks! I'm not German - but learned to use that word in India when they didn't like the English one.

RE: CPT Data

It looks like the Medical Journal of Islamic World Academy of Sciences started in 1988 as just the "Journal of Islamic World Academy of Sciences" and covered all fields of science.  It changed to a Medical Journal in 1998.
