automate pattern tables

automate pattern tables

(OP)
I used the faq in the forum that automates pro engineer models thru the use of excel.
Here is the link
http://www.eng-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=1254
I can do this for simple dimensions that are in a sketch.  But I would like to do this for making several patterns per model.

Q.
Is there a way to automate the creation of patterns through the use of pattern tables?

Thanks,
Tazengr

RE: automate pattern tables

You can create pattern tables manually then read them in.  Using Notepad or other simple text editor you can create a lot of tables in short order.

Also remember that an Identical pattern can be converted to General pattern governed by a table.  The table is created by Pro/E in the conversion.  In this way you can delete or suppress members of the pattern (except, maybe, the leading feature).  That can't be done with an Identical pattern.
