Useful references for welding and metallurgy

Useful references for welding and metallurgy

Useful references for welding and metallurgy

(OP)
I'm a mechanical dealing with piping projects in a refinery, and I'm interested in learning more about welding specifications and procedures from an engineering perspective. For most of our projects, we simply spec established weld procedures at the refinery. I'd like to understand the reasons behind these -- can anyone recommend some good reference books about welding engineering, procedures & methods for refinery piping?

Many thanks!

RE: Useful references for welding and metallurgy

Yes, go to the AWS web site below. They have a large collection of reference books related to welding and procedure development;

For starters, AWS B2.1:2005

For ASME B&PV Code welding procedures, see if you can get an old copy of ASME Section IX.
