Solidworks 2008 PDM works installation

We are about to upgrade to 2008. We are nervous however about upgrading PDM works as we cant seem to find any instructions on what to do and how to do it and what to do first. Can anyone help us out with any advice or tips? Thanks! bigears

RE: Solidworks 2008 PDM works installation

Berndog,
Make sure you have a backup of the Vault.
If you are nervous about upgrading, I would suggest you get your SolidWorks DVD and PDM service pack from 0.0 to 3.0. Take these two things to your server. Now call your VAR for instructions.
Warnings!
Get the right software for the server, 32 bit or 64 bit.
Shut everyone out of the Vault. Depending on your vault size this could take an hour or more. Ours takes 90 minutes.
When done let everyone back into the vault.

According to our VAR it was as simple as having the update file, which we pulled right off of SW's website, shutting down the vault service, running the .exe on the server, just like we were installing it for the first time, and then restarting the service. Took us a grand total of about an hour and went flawlessly. We are currently running PDMWorks server 2.1 with plans to update to 3.0 sometime in the next 3 weeks. We upgraded the vault from 07 SP 5 to 08 SP 1.1 without a problem.

Log into the customer portal and Download the PDMworks guide there. Its under the same guide as SW Admin install for SW07 and 08.

Do you happen to have the link to the PDMworks guide? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Thanks, but ...

"That was a hard one to find."
Not if you use the Portals Search engine. poke

Just using pdmworks as the keyword brings up several pages of links.
