Trouble dimensioning HW holes on a cylinder
Trouble dimensioning HW holes on a cylinder
(OP)
I am a green SW user converting from SurfCam and am having trouble dimensioning holes on a cylindrical surface. The part is an impeller with two 6-32 holes in each vane normal to the OD. I can put the holes in roughly where I want them, but I haven't been sucessful in locating them from the face of the part and the angular locations. When I try to dimension them, the dimensions go the the origin of the impeller and the hole point. I assume this is because the holes are a 3D sketch, but I don't know what to try next.
TIA for the help.

RE: Trouble dimensioning HW holes on a cylinder
You can add reference geometry and dimensions to locate your sketch points. Make sure any curves you draw are reference geometry. In your case I guess you may want to add a centerline concentric to the cylinder to mark the axis. Perhaps construction lines through the points and connected to the cylinder centerline, perpendicular to the centerline.
