Productstream 2008 Question

Productstream 2008 Question

Productstream 2008 Question

(OP)
In our legacy ACAD data we used the parts library for fasteners and the balloon command in a manual mode. We did not use the automated BOM in ACAD. The problem is the inserted fasteners and the balloons created reference points and that creates a database within the drawing. When one assigns an item to a drawing containing a database, Product Stream creates an additional Item for each part Product Stream finds in the ACAD drawing database. This automated item creation is great however with these additional items they contain no information. Therefore these items are useless and will only clutter our Item Master list. In this case Product Stream treats the Item created for the drawing as an assembly and the useless items are children of that assembly and cannot be deleted.

Is there a way to assign an Item to an ACAD drawing and have Product Stream ignore the database is finds within a ACAD drawing?
