Adhesion of Water based UV coatings on tin plate

Adhesion of Water based UV coatings on tin plate

(OP)
Hello,

I'm trying to coat tin plate with Water based UV coatings. I have a big problem with adhesion of my coating on substrate. Do you have an idea of what can i use as surface treatment (actually only dipping in acetone) or as additive to improve my adhesion?

Thanks

RE: Adhesion of Water based UV coatings on tin plate

Does the tin-plated steel have any oil on it from the mill?  If it does, you need to develop a cleaning routine that removes the oil.  This may include a first step of using a detergent in water, followed by a second step of immersion in dionized water, then drying the steel.  This surface should be adequate to allow good adhesion by the coating.

Regards,

Cory
