Need help in trying to identify a weld symbol

Need help in trying to identify a weld symbol

Need help in trying to identify a weld symbol

(OP)
While going through "The Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding" from The James Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation, I've come across a weld symbol I can't find identified in the book.

The symbol is shown in Fig. 2-65 on page 2.1-32.  The text states that "Fig. 2-65 shows the proper way of specify how plates intersecting at 60 degrees are to be welded with a complete-penetration, double -bevel groove joint.

Were the vertical legs just left off the weld symbol for a  full penetration weld?

Also could this joint be done by specifying fillet welds with out beveling the plates?

RE: Need help in trying to identify a weld symbol

RARSWC,

I agree that the vertical line as shown in figures 2-63 and 2-64 should also be present on figure 2-65.  What they are trying to convey with Fig 2-65 is the addition of the depth of bevel numbers for the two sides.
