List of NACE Compliant Materials for Use With H2S

List of NACE Compliant Materials for Use With H2S

List of NACE Compliant Materials for Use With H2S

(OP)
I have been searching without success for a list of materials which comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 1516(2003).  I understand that most (all?) of the Inconel and Hasteloy Alloys meet the required standards, also Super Duplex I think is ok but am not sure.

Does anybody have a compiled list which they could share with me? smile

Also if we get a material in which has certificates stating it is NACE compliant and we machine it, turned fittings etc, does this then change the surface properties which could mean it is no longer compliant?  I'm thinking of the heat from machining and work hardening.

Any help from you Corrosion and Material Experts would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Alan T Morris

RE: List of NACE Compliant Materials for Use With H2S

Alan,

You will not find a compiled list since there are varied materials requirements, varied environmental exposure requirements, and varied application specific requirements.  You will need to review ISO 15156 yourself to acquaint yourself with the variables.  It is not a simple case of "it's Hastelloy - it's in"

Deciding whether a machining operation is deemed to affect the ISO 15156 qualification of a material determined on unmachined material will be the prerogative of the end user.

look at nace /iso there are table with chemical composition of materials and UNS number.
Regarding the other question for certain materials, eg SS, it can't be cold worked to improve the mechanical properties. You've to look in nace/iso for your selected materials and see if there are specifica requiremnts.
