Drilled holes not penetrating through the vessel wall
Drilled holes not penetrating through the vessel wall
(OP)
I am analysing a 10" Stub Acme studded connection which is thick-walled. The connection has drilled holes which don't penetrate through the vessel wall and is subjected to internal pressure.
I am unable to use ASME 2007, Section VIII Division 2 Part 4.3.9 because the connection is thick-walled and it is a studded connection.
Can anyone advise how to evaluate the local allowable stress at the drilled holes?

RE: Drilled holes not penetrating through the vessel wall
looking at the design stress allowables in Fig. KD 240 of Division 3, part KD, does the local membrane stress for the vessel at the drilled holes have to be considered for both working and test conditions?
I have been advised that for test condition i only have to consider the general membrane stress intensity for the pressure vessel. is this correct?
