hi guys i am doing a 3 year project on making mould in Pro/engineer. I have finished making the mould in Pro/E and now i am writin my final year reportI have been on the net for hours but cant get any information on what programing language does Pro/e use and what r the basic differences between Pro/e and other design softwares like CAD ansys or any other.
I would be very grateful if some one could help me with my problem
Cheers

RE: difference
to my knowledge almost CAD Programs including Pro/E is written in C languange due to its faster execution time then other languange. May be Solid Edge is written in C++, but I am not so sure about this. In case of Pro/E, since Pro/E 2000i the GUIs are written in Java, so it is slower then previous version, this is not only my opinion. Pro/E is the first fully parametrized, feature driven CAD program. These features lead Pro/E as champion in 3D design. But meanwhile CATIA is also fully parametric with his Version 5 and even user friendly (many icons instead of text).
Hope this can be a little contribution to your wide range question
cheers

As futher information Pro/E has a powerful API, called Pro/Toolkit and its counterpart from CATIA is CAA.

RE: difference
If I'm not wrong, PRO/E was written in delta language.
If you want to create your own functions and use them in PRO/E, then you must use C or C++ languages. PRO/E provides the all API functions you need to create your own programs.
Hope I answered at your question.
Hora.
