Reaction for benzaldehyde from naphthalene

Reaction for benzaldehyde from naphthalene

Reaction for benzaldehyde from naphthalene

(OP)
In my experiment,I am reacting water and naphthalene (which is dissolved in water) in presence of UV light. This water also contains a little sodium chloride.I am getting benzaldehyde as a product in the GC.I am trying to find how this reaction may possibly occur, but not able to find any literature on benzaldehyde production from naphthalene. Is there any reference where I can find such mechanism or something like that?

RE: Reaction for benzaldehyde from naphthalene

Naphthalene doesn't dissolve in water.

RE: Reaction for benzaldehyde from naphthalene

(OP)
The naphthalene is not directly dissolved in the water. Its always insoluble in water.I made a packed bed of naphthalene, and passed an air stream through that packed bed so,air took up some naphthalene from that by mass transfer. Then I let this stream to bubble thought the water which made naphthalene to dissolve/been taken up by water. This is how naphthalene is there in water.

I don't pretend to have any expertise on the subject. Have you tried to Google for ozonation of naphthalene ?
